This 20 x 30 inch (mat included) giclee print on double weight matte paper is signed by illustrator Brian Ajhar. The matted print is from A Burst of Firsts: Doers, Shakers, and Record Breakers written by J. Patrick Lewis. This print accompanies the poem entitled “The First Time the Sound Barrier Was Broken” which appears on spread four of the book.

 

These three pen and ink drawings (which appear on a single 7 x 10 inch paper) by Nick Bruel appear in the final chapter of Dinosaur Trouble by Dick King-Smith. Each drawing is signed by Nick Bruel. A signed copy of Dinosaur Trouble is included with the drawings.

 

In this expressive sketch from his debut wordless picture book, Bow-Wow Bugs A Bug (Harcourt, 2008), Bow-Wow bugs the bug who has been bugging him. Signed by co-authors (and co-illustrators) Megan Montague Cash and Mark Newgarden, this graphite and colored pencil on board is 13" x 6.75", framed.

 

This 20 x 15 inch original painting by Floyd Cooper is from the picture book Shake Rag by Amy Littlesugar.

Ruth Bornstein

 

This painting was done by Julie Paschkis for Twist: Yoga Poems by Janet S. Wong. The painting is gouache on paper. Gouache is an opaque watercolor. About the painting, Julie says, “I was inspired and influenced by Indian miniature paintings for all of the illustrations in Twist.”

 

This 15 x15 inch print by Chris Soentpiet is from the picturebook Saturdays and Teacakes by Lester Laminack. The print is signed by the illustrator.

 

The Dancing Man

This 7½ x 10½ inch preliminary sketch for The Dancing Man by Ruth Lercher Bornstein is done in acrylic, oil pastel, and pencil. “The book,” says Ms. Bornstein, “is a story of receiving and giving back of a man’s whole life, a creative and caring life.”

 

Rabbit's Good News

This 5 ½ x 8 inch preliminary sketch for Rabbit’s Good News is done in acrylic. Says Ms. Bornstein, “I wanted to tell a story of our discovery and connection to all of nature.”

 

Little Gorilla

This 9 x 11 inch preliminary sketch for Little Gorilla is done in oil pastel and pencil. Of this book, Ms. Bornstein says, “I’ve always loved gorillas. It took me two years to wade through other Little Gorilla stories to reach what I wanted to say—that we are loved, big or little.”
