The Children’s Literature Assembly Board of Directors is proposing a change to the assembly bylaws. “[CLA’s] Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of CLA members who submit ballots electronically. Members must be given a minimum of six weeks to consider proposed changes to the extant Bylaws. If the membership approves the proposed changes, the new Bylaws will be considered as superseding the previous one” (CLA Bylaws, Article XIV, Amendments).
Please consider the proposed amendment in the ballot and indicate whether you agree with its adoption.
The ballot will close on Thursday, October 29 at 11:59pm PT.

Amendment to ARTICLE VIII: Standing Committees. Section 8.17: Adding the CLA Blog as a Standing Committee
Current Bylaws
Lists each Standing Committee from 8.4 (Membership Committee) to 8.16 (Online Children’s Literature Research Conference Committee).
Proposed Amendment
Section 8.17 The Children’s Literature Assembly Blog Committee Chair, Vice Chair, and Past Chair and members shall organize and publicize the Children’s Literature Assembly Blog. The Chair and Vice Chair shall set meeting dates, set agendas, and delegate tasks for the publication of the blog. The Chair and Vice Chair shall work with committee members to set a blog schedule, request posts from CLA committees, design and publish posts, and share post information with the CLA Communications Committee to publicize the blog posts. The Chair and Vice Chair will prepare a detailed report for the Board that provides an overview of the blog posts and available viewership data. The Committee Chair and Vice Chair work with the Website Manager to update the CLA website with information about the blog including pertinent dates and deadlines, calls, and other information.
