Welcome to the Children's Literature Assembly, an organization dedicated to bringing children's literature and advocates of children's literature together. The CLA is affiliated with the National Council of Teachers of English and its members have a personal and professional interest in promoting children's literature for children and adults.

The Children's Literature Assembly promotes quality literature written for children, recognizes outstanding trade books as the Notable Trade Books in the Language Arts, and sponsors workshops at the Fall and Spring NCTE conferences with outstanding authors and illustrators. During the NCTE conference in Fall each year, the CLA invites its members to breakfast with authors like Avi, Katherine Paterson, or Patricia Polacco. The organization also publishes a refereed journal called the Journal of Children's Literature two times a year which contains articles by noted authors, profiles of authors and illustrators, research updates, and reviews of children's and professional books to broaden your knowledge about children's literature.
